Jamie alternatives show up when the pitch that sold Jamie is no longer the job. Jamie records from your device, skips the meeting bot, and talks about EU hosting. You get notes, a transcript, and action items. You do not get a caption studio, and you do not get a way to skip the app when the MP4 is already in your downloads.
This list is voice to text, not another meeting-notes clone of the same five bots. Confirm prices on Jamie's pricing page. They move, and the annual and monthly cards are easy to misread.
The homepage is the file path when Jamie is the wrong start: File Transcribe.
Quick picks
| Tool | Best for |
|---|---|
| File Transcribe | The recording exists. You need text or SRT. Nothing joins the call, because the call is over. |
| Granola | A notepad on the device, notes enhanced from audio, no bot |
| Fellow | The team wants agendas and a shared meeting system, bot or botless |
| Read AI | Automatic reports on internal calendar meetings |
| Otter | A shared live transcript when a bot is allowed |
Jamie, so you know what you are leaving. The marketing is specific: no bot, data in the EU, ISO 27001 and GDPR named on the site, online and in-person capture. The pricing page lists a free plan with a monthly note cap and a 30-minute meeting limit, then Plus and Pro for individuals and a team seat. Do not quote a blog's euro conversion at your finance lead. Read Jamie's own card.
1. File Transcribe: best Jamie alternative when you were handed the file
Jamie has to hear the meeting from the device you are using. A client who records their own Zoom and emails the MP4 did not run Jamie. A podcast master, a lecture, and a phone memo are the same situation.
File Transcribe uploads that file. No calendar permission. No desktop capture app. Guests can try one without an account. Speaker labels, an editor, then export. Free is about 50 minutes a month, TXT or PDF. SRT and VTT are on Pro, about $19/month and about 2,000 minutes, and Plus, about $49/month and about 5,000 minutes. Confirm on /pricing.
Pick File Transcribe if the audio is a file. Stay on Jamie if you are in the conversation, you want structured notes a minute later, and the EU hosting story matches what your client asked for. File Transcribe does not claim Jamie's compliance pack. Do not swap the logos in a security questionnaire.

2. Granola: best if the notepad was the part you liked
Granola is the closest cousin. Device audio, no bot, your rough notes get cleaned up, audio is not kept as the archive. Basic is $0 with about 30 days of history. Business is listed at $14 per user per month. Confirm on Granola's site.
Pick Granola if you type during the call and want that note improved. Pick Jamie if you wanted Jamie's structured minutes and the EU story, and Granola's history cap or region is the problem. Pick neither for SRT.
3. Fellow: best when the team needs a meeting system
Fellow will record with a bot on Zoom, Meet, and Teams, or without one from the desktop app, and it wraps that in agendas, templates, and admin controls. Jamie is a capture-and-notes product. Fellow is closer to "how this company runs meetings."
The free plan is small, listed as a handful of AI notes per user for the life of the account, not per month. Team is listed around $7 per user per month on annual billing. Confirm on Fellow pricing. The notes-specific page is Fellow alternatives.
Pick Fellow if agendas are real at your company. Skip it if you only needed a transcript of one recording.
4. Read AI: best when you decided the bot was fine after all
Read is the other direction. The assistant joins. You get a report. People who tried Jamie because they hated bots should not "switch to Read" without admitting they changed the requirement.
Read is worth a look when the meetings are internal, the report gets read, and someone will own the seat. The decision page is is Read AI worth it.
5. Otter: best shared live transcript
Otter is the familiar shared notetaker. It belongs here only if the Jamie constraint (no stranger in the participant list) has been lifted. If it has not, Otter repeats the problem Jamie was hired to avoid.

A note on privacy claims
Jamie's site says EU data, no bot, and a certification list. That is Jamie's claim, on Jamie's site, for Jamie's current product. File Transcribe's privacy page is /privacy. Granola, Fellow, and Read publish their own. Do not write "GDPR-compliant alternative" under a logo because a competitor used the letters. If a client needs a DPA, region, or retention period, read that vendor's current docs or do not recommend them.
FAQ
What is the best Jamie alternative for voice to text?
File Transcribe, when the recording is already a file. Granola, when you still want a bot-free notepad in the meeting. Fellow, when the company wants agendas plus capture. Read or Otter only if a bot is now allowed.
Does Jamie keep the recording?
Jamie's public pages say the product can delete the recording after the transcript exists, as a privacy step. Confirm the current setting before you tell a client the audio is gone. If you need the audio and the text, do not assume deletion is optional in the way you hope. Check the toggle.
Is Jamie free?
There is a free plan with a monthly cap and a short maximum meeting length, listed at 30 minutes. A one-hour client call will not fit. Confirm on the pricing page.
Can Jamie caption a video?
Jamie is meeting notes and a transcript. For SRT or VTT from a file, use File Transcribe and export on Pro or Plus.
If you are about to join the call and you want notes without a bot, Jamie or Granola still match. If the call ended yesterday, upload the file.
