Gong alternatives for call transcripts in 2026. Gong stays when you need revenue intelligence. A transcript of calls you already recorded is a smaller tool.

Gong alternatives for call transcripts are not cheaper Gongs. Gong is revenue intelligence: calls, CRM, deal risk, coaching across the book. The transcript is an ingredient. If the sentence in the budget meeting was "we need the words from these recordings," you are shopping for a transcript, and Gong is the wrong aisle.
This page splits that aisle. It does not pretend a $19 upload tool scores a pipeline. Prices for File Transcribe are on /pricing. Gong does not publish a simple seat price. Confirm with their sales team. Do not trust a blog that invents one.
A Discord voice channel someone recorded is still a file, not a Gong workspace. That path is Discord calls.
Quick picks
| Need | Use |
|---|---|
| Text from recordings you already store | File Transcribe |
| A bot that logs sales calls to the CRM, without a Gong rollout | Fireflies |
| Lighter recaps for a few reps | Fathom |
| The dialer or Zoom already transcribes, and the reader lives there | The tool you already record in |
| Patterns, scorecards, and forecast workflow across every call | Stay on Gong, or a peer in that budget |
1. File Transcribe: best when the call is already a file
File Transcribe turns an MP3, M4A, or MP4 into text you can edit. It does not join the next demo. It does not write Salesforce fields. It does not rank talk time. You export the recording Gong, the dialer, or Zoom already made, upload it, and name the speakers.
That is the Gong alternative for transcripts, specifically. A manager who needs the price sentence from Thursday's call does not need a new revenue platform to read one paragraph. Free is about 50 minutes a month, TXT or PDF. Pro is about $19/month for about 2,000 minutes, with SRT and VTT. Plus is about $49/month for about 5,000 minutes. Guests can try a file on the homepage.
Pick it if the library of recordings exists and the reader needs words. Do not pick it if leadership asked for deal risk on every opportunity. You will disappoint them, accurately.
The upload steps for a sales file are how to transcribe a sales call recording. The boundary, in the other direction, is when a transcript is enough and Gong is not.
2. Fireflies: best mid-market bot if the CRM log is the real ask
Fireflies joins the call and can push notes toward HubSpot or Salesforce. Teams search "Gong alternative" when the Gong quote was too large and a rep still needs the call on the deal. Fireflies is in that neighborhood. It is not Gong. Confirm seat price, which CRM actions are on which plan, and whether your buyers accept the bot. Review: Fireflies.ai review. The sales-call list: Fireflies alternatives for sales calls.
Pick Fireflies if you will use the CRM sync on ordinary discovery calls. Pick File Transcribe if the buyer refused a bot and you recorded natively.
3. Fathom: best light recap for a small pod
Fathom is the smaller live-notes product people adopt when Gong is a department and they are three reps. Free tier, summaries, a path to the CRM on paid plans. Confirm current limits. It will not replace a Gong rollout, and it should not be sold internally as one.
Pick Fathom if the output is a recap a rep will actually paste. Leave it if you needed a searchable book of calls with methodology scoring.
4. The recorder you already pay for
Zoom's transcript, a dialer's transcript, Gong's own transcript if you already have Gong: the alternative to a new vendor is sometimes the export button. Use it when the reader has a seat in that tool and the text is good enough to coach from.
Export and re-transcribe when the reader does not have a seat, the built-in text is too rough to quote, or you need SRT for an enablement video. A QA lead without a Gong login cannot "just open Gong."
Call-center files are a different room from sales Gong. If the source is a phone system, read best transcription software for call centers before you drag those recordings into a revenue tool.
5. Stay on Gong when the transcript was never the purchase
If the board slide says conversation intelligence, win rates, and manager scorecards, a transcript exporter is not the alternative. Gong, or whatever peer your enablement lead is actually evaluating, is the category. Chorus-style products sit in that same budget conversation. Name the one you are willing to implement. Do not collect six "Gong alternatives" that are meeting bots and hope the forecast moves.
Pick that category if someone will administer it, reps will be recorded under a policy they have seen, and managers will open the dashboard. Skip it if the pilot's success metric is "we transcribed ten calls."
A buying test that takes one afternoon
- Pull ten recordings you already have. Mix of wins, losses, and a messy speakerphone.
- Transcribe two of them with an upload tool. Time how long it takes a manager to find the price and the next step.
- Ask the Gong champion what question those two transcripts cannot answer. If the answer is "whether this pattern shows up across 400 calls," you still want Gong. If the answer is "nothing, I can read," you wanted transcripts.
FAQ
What is the best Gong alternative for call transcripts?
File Transcribe, for recordings you can export. Fireflies or Fathom, if you still want a bot on the next call. The dialer's own transcript, if the reader already works there. Gong itself, if the job is intelligence across the book rather than the words of one call.
Can I get transcripts out of Gong and edit them elsewhere?
If your Gong admin can export the media or the text, yes. Re-upload the audio when you need a cleaner edit, speaker names a non-Gong user can read, or captions. Confirm export rights in your contract before you build a process on them.
Is File Transcribe a Gong competitor?
No. Different purchase. The comparison is only valid when the requirement was mislabeled as Gong and was actually "transcribe these files."
What about calls that were not Zoom?
Phone exports, desk recordings, and a Discord call someone saved are files. Gong may never see them. Upload the file. Discord-specific notes: Discord calls to text.
If you need the words, start with the recording you have. If you need the pattern across every deal, call Gong.
